Sabah Fest - A Cultural Extravaganza

XTERRA World Tour Championship Race Malaysia

XTERRA- Off road version of the triathlon (swim, mountain bike & trail run) has hundreds of events in 14 countries and is still growing. The typical XTERRA comprised of the following discipline: 1.5km swim; 30k mountain bike; 11km trail run. This year XTERRA World Tour includes 23 countries i.e. South Africa, New Zealand, Philippines, Guam, Costa Rica, Saipan, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Greece, Switzerland, Canada, France, Sweden, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Republic Czech, Japan, England and Denmark. 

Thea races are open to both pro and amateur competitors. Top- ranking amateurs are awarded an XTERRA title and entries to the XTERRA World Championship in Maui. This is the 2nd year XTERRA in Malaysia and second country in South East Asia to host this event.

Borneo Jazz Festival

The inaugural Borneo Jazz Festival was held in 2006, with the vision of being the leading music festival in the region while promoting tourism to Miri and Sarawak’s northern regions. Not only would visitors have a fun-filled and entertaining experience, the annual event also showcases Miri as a truly cosmopolitan city with fascinating cultural attractions.

Red Bull Air Race

17 May 2014 – 18 May 2014

 

The third race on the 2014 World Championship calendar will see the pilots descend on Putrajaya. Built in the early 1990s, the city is located 25km south of the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. At the heart of the city is the 600-hectare man-made Putrajaya Lake which will host the aerial action and that is sure to draw a huge crowd.

Jeff Dunham Live in Malaysia

Jeff Dunham is an American ventriloquist and stand-up comedian with over 25 years of experience in comedy. He began his career in comedy in 1986, appearing in local clubs. Jeff Dunham has appeared in multiple television shows such as Late Show with David Letterman, Comedy Central Presents, The Tonight Show and Sonny With A Chance. His style has been described as “a dressed-down, more digestible version of Don Rickles with multiple personality disorder”, and has been credited with reviving ventriloquism. 

As of November 2009, he has sold over four million DVD’s and received more than 350million hits on YouTube (as of October 2009). Forbes.com has ranked Dunham as the third highest paid comedian in the United States behind Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock, with reported earnings of approximately USD 30million from June 2008 to June 2009. Jeff Dunham has over 320,000 followers on social networking site Twitter

Melaka River Fiesta

Inspired by the San Antonio River Festival in USA, Melaka International River Festival 2013 is back for the whole month of June! The festival aims to promote Melaka in general, particularly the Melaka River and monorail that travels from Spice Garden to Dataran Hang Tuah.

Among the highlights include water sports fiesta, dragon boat competitions and decorative floats parade. With more than 100 events prepared, this well-known state tourism product is expected to draw not less than 800,000 tourists this year.

Pesta Wau Antarabangsa Kelantan

The sky's the limit at the annual 5-day Kelantan International Wau Festival. Colourful 'Wau' (giant kites) of various shapes and sizes will paint the sky while fabulous food will whet your appetite. There will be an assortment of crafts for souvenir hunters. Visitors can also enjoy cultural shows and 'dikir barat' competitions that spice up the festival. With over 120 local and 47 international participants from 18 countries as well as exciting activities, this will be a great festival! Be wowed by the 'wau'!

This month-long Harvest Festival celebrates the cultural lifestyle of the Kadazandusun community of Sabah. It is held to welcome the new Harvest Season and to offer gratitude for the good harvest. The grand finale will be held in Hongkod Koisaan, the KDCA Hall in Penampang, with the final round of Unduk Ngadau (Harvest Beauty Pageant). About 5,000 people are expected to attend this event to enjoy folk song, dances and traditional games.
